GW meets with world's largest chemical company, BASF

October 24, 2013

The George Washington University was invited to an invitation-only workshop with BASF to discuss their corporate research needs and potential applicable GW technologies. The Office of Technology Transfer, Office of Corporate Partnerships, and Dr. Voutchkova of the Chemistry Department represented GW.  BASF brought 50 technology experts, research managers, technology scouts, and corporate venture managers.  Only 6 universities and 3 federal agencies were invited.  After introductory remarks by the universities and federal agencies, the workshop moved to a "speed dating" format where BASF personnel explored details on the research programs of interest to them.  GW's "dance card" was full for all 8 rounds.  We had active interest in technologies ranging from plant growth, catalysis, real time Mass Spec, toxicity screening, composite materials and energy storage.
